Happy Valentine's Day

On the 12th, lil'B came home with a note telling us that the following day is "Pink Day." Obviously, I don't recall buying him a pink outfit, for a moment I thought, why do they have to inform us at the last minute? Then I thought for a minute, "wait a minute, I can improvise. I looked into my closet, and found a nice pink sweatshirt that can fit lil'B. When I told him about the sweatshirt, he said no he was not going to wear pink because it's for girls, beside he does not want to wear mom's stuff. I was surprised. Oh when I was in high school, I only heard about red and white on valentines day, why do they want "Pink" now? Latter on I told him that some of his male friends were going to borrow pink from their parents, and if he chose not to wear pink, he'll be the only one without pink in his class. Additionally, I told him not to tell anyone that he borrowed from his mom, because no one will tell either. As you can see in the picture, he finally decided to wear pink, only if he keeps it in his closet. Now I have t find a way to get my sweatshirt back. I thought he looked nice.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2009 when...

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave. 2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years. 3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3. 4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you. 5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses 6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries. 7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen. 8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it. 10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee. 11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : ) 12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing. 13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message. 14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list. 15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list AND NOW YOU ARE LAUGHING at yourself. Go on, forward this to your friends. You know you want to!

Tuition-free colleges

I'm happy to share this information with any student looking for scholarships. "During difficult economic times, the cost of higher education leaves many students wondering if they can afford to go to college. For those who want to avoid being saddled with huge loans, the U.S. government offers one of the best deals around: Enroll at one of the five service academies tuition-free and receive free room and board. (And you thought the Grand Slam promotion at Denny’s was cool.) But if military service isn’t for you, here are eight other schools that offer tuition-free educations." Follow the link and read more! Hope this help someone.

Happy Birthday Mom

Mom receiving her Teaching Degree from Hon. DR. Kenneth Kaunda Former President of Zambia. Today is my mother's Birthday. My Mom Albertina was born in Uukwaluudhi in the North part of Namibia. Part of my mom's side are Ngandjeras. Even today we have family in Ongandjera. Mom is a teacher by profession, and I'm proud of her courage and handwork; she completed her BA in Education when she was in her 50s. During the time we were in exile, she was one of the few women who sacrificed their lives for others. She took care of us and many other children. Many times I have been asked by some Namibians people if I was meme Albertina's daughter. I always ask them why, and the answer was always positive. "She helped them during exile." One particular guy Mr. Kafidi told me that Meme Albertina saved their lives during exile; she made Oshikundu an Ovambo traditional drink, and that helped a lot of young kids in exile. The Ovambo drink has nutrients that prevent the children from malnutrition. During the time I spent with my mom in exile, I remember her treating all children who came to visit us with the same love she gave us. When we returned from exile, Mom was selected as the main leader for the first flight that left the nyango camp, and a documentary was made about the entire trip entitled: "De retour en Namibie" meaning Back to Namibia. I can't wait to see this movie again. I love my mother so much; she's my hero. After I gave birth to my first child, the entire experience made me appreciate my mother even more. I can't imagine all the love she has for me and all my other siblings. Happy Birthday mom. May God bless you, and keep you safe. Kulupa nomesho mayego ndikutaasinine.

February is the Black History Month in the US!

Black History month began in 1926, and originally called "Negro History Week." The Black History Month is credited to Dr.Carter G. Woodson to bring national attention to the involvement of black people in America. Dr. Woodson, a Harvard educated scholar, initiated the Black History month because he discovered that there was little mention of African American's in history textbooks. To learn more visit the free Wikipedia, and many other only resources. Many activities will be available for adults, youth and children around the States; thus I urge you to celebrate in the Black History Month.
