Happy Birthday Mom

Mom receiving her Teaching Degree from Hon. DR. Kenneth Kaunda Former President of Zambia. Today is my mother's Birthday. My Mom Albertina was born in Uukwaluudhi in the North part of Namibia. Part of my mom's side are Ngandjeras. Even today we have family in Ongandjera. Mom is a teacher by profession, and I'm proud of her courage and handwork; she completed her BA in Education when she was in her 50s. During the time we were in exile, she was one of the few women who sacrificed their lives for others. She took care of us and many other children. Many times I have been asked by some Namibians people if I was meme Albertina's daughter. I always ask them why, and the answer was always positive. "She helped them during exile." One particular guy Mr. Kafidi told me that Meme Albertina saved their lives during exile; she made Oshikundu an Ovambo traditional drink, and that helped a lot of young kids in exile. The Ovambo drink has nutrients that prevent the children from malnutrition. During the time I spent with my mom in exile, I remember her treating all children who came to visit us with the same love she gave us. When we returned from exile, Mom was selected as the main leader for the first flight that left the nyango camp, and a documentary was made about the entire trip entitled: "De retour en Namibie" meaning Back to Namibia. I can't wait to see this movie again. I love my mother so much; she's my hero. After I gave birth to my first child, the entire experience made me appreciate my mother even more. I can't imagine all the love she has for me and all my other siblings. Happy Birthday mom. May God bless you, and keep you safe. Kulupa nomesho mayego ndikutaasinine.
